Kittens are supposed to be cute, cuddly, and basically all around adorable. Look up kitten in the dictionary and it will tell you they are a fluff ball full of love. Sometimes they are rambunctious, and scratches are inevitable; its basic kitten 101. Not even kitten 304 could have prepared the Helfrich household for the newest addition to our barnyard family.
This creature has been a problem baby from the start. Welcoming a healthy kitten to our home would have been far too easy; my mother had to take a little fluff ball under her wing that needed a blood transfusion and had a low chance of living. The sex of the kitten is also unknown. Princess Aurora was the little rats first name... until we decided that it looked more like a boy. Now mother named it Leech. Yes, leech as in the blood sucking insect/ animal thing that is common in swamps. Its common to hear someone yelling out " LEECHY!!!!!" in pain in our house.
Flesh is Leechy's drug of choice, the addiction only
seems to intensify as he grows. He latches on and doesn't let go until he is sure he had made his victim feel pain. His claws are magnetic to legs and his Bite is unpredictable. Nothing is off limits for Leechy to destroy. Unfortunately he loves my cheeks and lips. My legs look like they have gone through a shredder. Worst of all Leechy has to live in my room and is forced to sleep with me. 6 am is when the battle begins. His strong vocal cords start belting out loud meows and demands to be let out... if his demands aren't met he will simply continue on and and on and on and on, or use me as a scratching post.
Hating this little Leech would be so easy... but he is a kitten and therefore just too gosh darn cute to despise!!!!!

Dreams.
As a child i was always told to always dream big. Anything is possible if you put your mind to it. The sky is the limit. To shoot for the moon for if i miss i will still be with the stars. And other catchy annoying little phrases. Naturally i became a dreamer.
I didn't live in a world of fantasy and think my dreams would magically come true. I knew hard work and dedication were the key. Being the stubborn and determined person i am, little by little my dream slowly became into existence. My dream became my identity.
But what happens when you wake up from your dream? or you realized it was never what you really wanted? Does all the work you put into making it happen get thrown away? Do the sacrifices that were made suddenly count for nothing? Does changing your dream make you a quitter?

Butler Blues
Ohhhh Butler, honestly I didn't think i would miss you this much. At first I hated you, then I wanted to transfer, now I want to change majors, but most of all i want to return to campus. Who knew living in dorm full of girls would fiddle a spot into my heart like this? not me. Life is very boring when there is noone to creep into your room, or stalk you into the bathroom. I am so thankful for my dysfunctional butler family and can't wait to see how it grows.
I survived my first semester of college... and I think I am slowly turning into a yankee!!! yikes. Now and then i catch my self saying " you guys" in my head instead of y'all. Every once in a while the term " pop" almost slips through my lips when speaking of a soft drink. Coke is the obvious correct term for these caffeinated drinks. 50 degrees is no longer cold to me, but i still long for summer. Hopefully this time spent in Texas will have corrected this problem.
Thanks to Butler I now know how to sled, dougie, what tapioca pudding tastes like, what standard deviation means, that blinking lights while driving are normal, the bumps on the side of the road are not there to provide more traction to motor cycles, its possible to get a person from campus to on a plane in a little less than 1 hour, there are different types of handles... not just the ones on bicycle and much much more.
I can't wait to see what 2nd semester will bring.

Falling In Love With Fall
So i am new to this whole blog thing so i guess we will see how this goes :)
This whole fall shin-dig is starting to grow on me, actually i had no idea what i was missing out on! Okay Indiana you get a point for this amazing season. The trees are on fire with a sea of gold and scarlet leaves. Walking from class to class is 10 times more enjoyable when i get to stomp through the leaves. Who knew the leaves actually fell from the trees like all the time? Not me!!! I wish this season would last forever.
However Indiana i don't appreciate you bipolar weather! Why didn't anyone warn me about this? 35 in the mornings then 65 in the afternoon is not cool. My feet don't know wether to wear UGGs or flip flops. Please do us all a favor and make up your mind.
With fall came midterms, nutcracker rehearsals, and possibly the best thing of all.... FALL BREAK! Thank you butler for this great invention, i don't know what i would have done without it. Okay i do know what would have happend... i would have turned into a zombie due to lack of sleep. Now i get to spend some time with my favorite cousins and basically do nothing.
More updates later :)
